Project GENE AGE 2.0

Science That Changes Lives

The Gene Age 2.0 project brings together patients, patient organizations and scientists to find ways to explain scientific and health topics to the public in a clear and human-centered way. Although modern medicine and research affect millions of lives, the underlying concepts and their implications are often difficult for non-experts to understand.

The project is organized by the Association of Gene Therapy (ASGENT), which has long been dedicated to supporting research and education in this field. CCP is a partner in the project, providing facilities for the training session with Martin Tyburec (Media communication expert and former senior editor of the science desk at Czech Television).

A joint initiative of scientists and patients

The project focuses on collaboration between scientists and patient communities to create content that helps explain modern medicine in a clear and human-centered way. Through a series of workshops and activities, participants will learn:

  • how to communicate science effectively on social media
  • how to translate expert knowledge into clear and accessible language
  • how to use storytelling in science communication
  • how to present research to the media and the public
  • how to write press releases or popular science articles

Participants will also work on materials that will contribute to the travelling Gene Age 2.0 exhibition as well as interactive online educational content.

Workshops and events

The project includes several expert workshops and lectures focused on science communication:

  • 14 April 2026, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. – Science Communication Workshop (CCP seminar room – Campus Biocev, Vestec)
The workshop will be led by Martin Tyburec and will focus on explaining complex scientific topics to a general audience and using storytelling in science communication.
  • 21 April 2026, 3:00-5:30 p.m. – Lecture by Daniel Stach on Science Communication (Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague)
The lecture will provide insights into how a science newsroom operates and how the media select and process scientific topics. It will also offer guidance on how to answer key journalists’ questions: what, when, who, and why.
  • Autumn 2026 – Social Media Communication Workshop (Prague, TBA)
A practical workshop on communicating science through social media, creating engaging posts, and working with visual content. Workshop will be led by Julien Poulain (Communications Manager at EURORDIS Rare Diseases Europe)
