HEAD OF CARDIOVASCULAR UNIT

Successful candidate will be part of an international team with dedicated and professional attitude and has to fulfill the following requirements:

Job description at the Cardiovascular Unit (https://www.phenogenomics.cz/phenotyping/cardiovascular/):

  • Leading, Conducting ,and Supervising Experiments: Leading and overseeing cardiovascular experiments, ensuring high scientific standards and adherence to relevant protocols; ensurign collaboration with other Phenotyping units
  • Management of Laboratory Technicians: Directing the work of laboratory technicians within the cardiovascular unit
  • Project Design and Consultancy: Providing expert advice and designing research projects within the CCP projects as well as for for external client
  • Optimization of Cardiovascular research design for our Users: Enhancing the existing cardiovascular research infrastructure to better support users’ needs/refining methodologies and implementing new technologies specific to cardiovascular research
  • Introduction and Development of New Tests: Innovating and integrating new cardiovascular tests and procedures, expanding the capabilities of the research unit
  • Preparation of SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Analysis and Interpretation of data
  • Preclinical Research and Contract Research, Grant Applications and Publications

Required Skills/qualification:

  • Education in biological, veterinary, medical or related field
  • Medical eligibility for work with laboratory animals and animal samples (rodents)
  • Working knowledge of English language

DEPUTY HEAD OF TRANSGENIC AND ARCHIVING MODULE

Czech Centre for Phenogenomics, member of IMPC and Infrafrontier consortiums is seeking motivated and responsible candidates for deputy Head of The Transgenic and Archiving Module.

The Transgenic and Archiving Module is currently responsible for generation of novel genetically modified mice and rats using state-of-the-art technologies and is about to establish targeting of cells and cell-based models such organoids or 3D models.

TAM provides a complete service, from the initial gene-targeting design, generation of tools and transgenic rodent models to the genotyping, cryopreservation and breeding of desired animal models for phenotyping.

Job description:

  • Leadership and Supervision: You will be responsible for management of the whole TAM operation, supervising services, experiments, managing a team of laboratory technicians, and coordinating their work within TAM
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on involvement in the generation of genetically modified rodent models (mouse, rat) using methods like microinjections, animal surgery, or electroporation
  • Advanced Procedures: Expertise in cryopreservation of mouse embryos and sperm, and the revival of live animals from cryopreserved materials
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in the analysis of genetically modified lab animals using various genotyping strategies
  • Communication skills: there is necessity to deal requests from national and international usersand clients and communicate with our consortial partners (INFRAFRONTIER/EMMA)
  • Technology development : You are encouraged to establish research projects to develop and establish new technologies as well as new rodent and cell-based models

Required Skills/qualification:

  • A degree in biological, veterinary, medical or related field
  • Interest in learning and understanding of new methods and techniques
  • Medical eligibility for work with laboratory animals and animal samples (rodents)
  • Proficiency in English and familiarity with office/database software

BIOINFORMATICIAN

To expand our team we are currently looking for candidates for the position of the Bioinformatics/data analytic team.

Core responsibilities:

  • Analysis of images and developing programs for automatic using AI
  • or modelling 3D structure proteins and their interactions using ‘alpha-fold’ SW and aiming to find new structure modulators
  • Actively engage in the development and support of process automation initiatives to streamline workflow and drastically reduce time spent on manual data exports
  • Lead small team of bioinformatics and performing your own research analysis of big phenotyping data

The best candidate should:

  • Be willing to learn and develop new solutions in data preprocessing
  • Be experienced in R (other languages Python, MySQL advantage)
  • Have a knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Have good communication skills and be able to work with the team as well as on a self-contained basis
  • Possess MSc in bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics or related subject and have relevant track record in the field
