The new state-of-the-art BSL-3 laboratory at the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics

The new state-of-the-art BSL-3 laboratory for work with highly infectious viruses and bacteria was opened on 9 March at the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics. The new laboratory will be used primarily for preclinical testing of new drugs in animal models.

CCP preclinical services in a nutshell

The Czech Centre for Phenogenomics offers a very broad portfolio of highly standardized assays useful for preclinical studies on rodents including established disease models. Are you interested in our preclinical services?

Focus on rare diseases: the Alliance for Rare Disease Research and Therapy is launched

The Alliance brings together leading Czech scientific and medical institutions dealing with rare genetic diseases as well as patient associations. It also plans to work closely with specialized companies.
Since 2022, CCP coordinates the research programme “Towards Precision Medicine and Gene Therapy” of the Strategy AV21 of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The other project coordinated by CCP is the “National centre for new methods of diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and prevention of genetic diseases”. The project started in January and is aimed at supporting and strengthening long-term cooperation between the research and the application spheres. Rare diseases, which are studied at CCP, cover: Angelman syndrome, Netherton syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Diamond-Blackfan anemia, osteogenesis imperfekta, achondrodysplasia.

New publications

Scientists from the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics participated in the characterisation of the effect of the antibodies by creating special mice that model Covid-19 infection in the lungs.

Miscellaneous

Blanka Mrazkova, young postdoc from CCP was awarded the best talk at the Neural Crest & Cranial Placodes Gordon Research Seminars 2023 in Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco in Lucca, Italy. Blanka presented her research about the role of Trabd2b gene in mouse head and brain embryonic development. Her results suggest that this gene sustains the balance between Wnt and Shh signaling pathways.
PhD student Miles Raishbrook from the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics was awarded with the January Picture of the Month. Competition is organized by the Imaging Methods Core Facility at BIOCEV campus.
